Sun dried Tomato and Chilli Dough Balls Recipe

If you follow me on Instagram you would know that one of my friends got me Crumb the baking book written by Ruby Tandoh, the woman who came second in last years Great British Bake Off, one of the shows I live for. In this book are some amazing recipes for amateur and advanced bakers. I just can't praise this book enough I am that in love with it!

For this weeks blog post I have decided to write a recipe post as it is something a little different and one of my best hobbies. I chose the recipe for Garlic Dough Balls from the Crumb book and altered the flavours as that is one of my favorite parts of trying recipes. The flavours I decided to try were sun dried tomato and chili as this was the first combination that popped into my head when I read this recipe and if I do say s myself tastes great!

The Ingredients~

50-60g of Sun dried tomatoes
4 table spoons of olive oil
250ml of water
500g of Strong white flour
7g of instant yeast
1 teaspoon of salt
1-4 chillies depending on how spicy you like your food

The Method- Makes 30-36 balls~

1. Chop the sun dried tomatoes and Chilies into small pieces and leave at the side.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and the yeast then add the teaspoon of salt and mix well. Then add the sun dried tomatoes and chilies with the water and oil. Once it is all incorporated knead for 5-10 minutes, or until the dough is beginning to feel less sticky than when you started.

3. Then let the dough rise in a covered bowl at room temperature for 1 to 1:30 hours, or until it has doubled in size. Gently deflate the dough, then roll into small balls, the size of a £2 coin, and place onto a well-greased baking tray. Cover again and leave to prove for another 30 minutes. They will puff up slightly. In the mean time preheat the oven to 180 degrees fan/ gas mark 4.

4.Bake for 13-14 minutes, until well risen. The dough balls will still look pale but they will be cooked throughout. Pile them into a bowl and serve warm, they taste best this way. I also like to serve with butter to dip in as they enrich the flavour, not the healthiest thing but it tastes amazing!

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do and let me know!
